Hey, thanks so much for checking out my video
Just before I get started, I'm Tammy Sherger, founder of the I Am Worth It Project, here at our studio, the home of transformation for women.
Heck, it happens to all of us, you know, where we are facing an obstacle that we think, it's almost impossible for us to overcome. When I was 36-years-old, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, and as I sat in the doctor's office, I asked him, am I going to die? And he said, "I don't know, I don't know." And in that moment I was filled with an overwhelming sense of regret, regret for the things that I hadn't done, that I hadn't said, but more importantly, all the things that I would never have a chance to become because I was always pushing those dreams down, believing that I wasn't worthy of having them. No matter what that obstacle is that you're facing right now, maybe it is a serious illness, maybe it's the economy, the loss of a job, the loss of a relationship, there are certain steps you can take to convert that obstacle into an opportunity.
Let's get started with number one, and this one comes from my mom, who's watching us right now from heaven. She used to always say to me, "You know what, Tammy, this too shall pass." Have you heard that before? I'm sure you have. It didn't matter what would happen to me, when I was diagnosed with cancer, when I went through a divorce, she would say to me, "Tammy, this too shall pass. "Life is about peaks and valleys, "and you can't live a life without both of them." Remember, whatever you're going through right now, this too shall pass, and I'm sure you already know that, if you look back over your life and the things that you've already overcome.
Number two, mindset matters. We let our mind and our thoughts run out of control, believing there is nothing that we can do about it. But there is, you need to create a morning ritual, so that you start your day off in a positive mindset. It can be as simple as listening to a minute meditation or some good music, or reading some passages that make you feel calm. But don't ever believe that you don't have the ability to change your mindset because you certainly do.
Number three, don't keep telling the story of the obstacle, because the more you tell it, the more it cements into your brain and that's what is driving those overwhelming thoughts. It's time to create a new story. Create the story about what you want, not what you're living through that you don't want to have in your life.
Number four, and I know this can be hard, but you've got to focus on the solutions not the problem. When we get stuck in the problem, we can't see that there is always, always, always a way. But you're not going to be able to see it when you're focused on the problem. Start focusing on the solutions. What is it can you do to get yourself out of this obstacle?
And finally, and most importantly, choose your people wisely. Because if you are surrounded by people who want to stay in the problem, it's going to be really tough for you to gain traction and get out of it. Make sure you find those people who are focusing on solutions, who are moving ahead, who believe they can create opportunity out of obstacles, because they will help lift you up and in turn, you're going to help lift them up, too. Okay, those are your five fastest ways to overcome the obstacle and create opportunity.
